Thanks Bobbie, I love the green too and it's how I always picture the groundhogs because they love eating the clovers and dandelion leaves in the grass. It takes time to paint between those blades of grass so I'm glad you liked it!

I like your Groundhop and that you used brown in the grass and on the Groundhog. You green compliments him and makes him stand out. Great job.

Hi Camulus, thanks so much! I really enjoyed painting this little chubby guy, I always see one in my back yard and last year I did sketches which inspired this painting. They really do have pretty colors on them.

Marvelous picture of an animal that is surprisingly little painted or sketched. Good job his shadow is hidden in the long grass ha!ha!
It obviously doesn't live in Washington state.

Well hi Valerie! It's nice to hear from you, I guess it has been awhile if you haven't seen my 'new' blog! haha...how's it going? I'll try to stop by your blog or site soon. I'll be headed back to England soon, I can't wait to do more painting. Working on a tour business with my boyfriend which will involve creative tours! Can't wait! Thanks for the nice comments,
Mary

Hi Mary! It's been a very, very long time - I just discovered your "new" blog, and love this post with the groundhog! It reminds me of some of the beautiful old scientific illustrations. BTW, your sketchbook is really beautiful, too!
