I became an avid bird watcher when I was a teenager, walking around the neighborhood with my nose in a field guide that I bought with my birthday money. ($5) I loved that book (and still do), Roger Tory Peterson’s Field Guide to Birds of the North Eastern USA. I’ve painted many birds and even owned some song birds and chickens too!
