Good news, I was granted my Fiance Visa! Yay! I can finally move forward and go to be with Gary and start my new life in England. I hope to settle in and get sketching the British landscapes and nature again and focus on my children’s books.
There’s someone else who’s making big changes in her life…(please click to see nice clear image).
I’ll try to post updates as I can but have so much to do! Almost all my art supplies have been packed away forever and my little furry friends that give me inspiration are packed away too. Moving can’t come soon enough for me.
“Should I stay here at Long Lane or should I go? Mr. McCuddles is waiting for me.” thought Honey Bunny to herself. I think we all know what she’s going to do! (Mr. McCuddles is an English Teddy that she met years ago).
Dear Mary … Over the years I have received your notices and beautiful watercolor paintings and drawings but have never taken the time to look “deeper” into your website. With your most recent e-mail I decided to see just who you were, and was delighted and surprised to read more about you and your amazing talents.
I am a novice watercolorist … love the medium and adore nature. The woods, animals and nature itself is “my heart”. It is my place for connecting with the mystical, although I must say I feel the same way regarding my observations of people and their ingrained and amazing potential for goodness and love.
I would like to thank you for the beautiful gift you bring to so many and I am very sure “The Divine” is very pleased with you in capturing the humor and uniqueness of the earth and humanity.
God Bless, and have a safe and wonderful trip to London.
Hi Mary! I am a long time follower of your blog and will miss your Long Lane posts, but I am so excited for your new chapter in life. My husband and I recently retired and sold everything but a few essentials. We moved to an area in northern CA called The Sea Ranch. It is not a foreign country, but very remote and unspoiled. I feel a kindred spirit as I have watched your England posts as the wild coastal scenery, waterfowl and tide pool creatures remind me of my new home. I am enjoying seeing how you explore and draw your new world and, as usual, I am learning from you how to capture mine. Though I know you are busy, your posts are much loved and I look forward to seeing how you capture the beauty around you. Best wishes for a wonderful future and heartfelt thanks for all your painstakingly detailed art, observation and process.
Dear Joan, thank you for taking the time to write me such a wonderful and encouraging comment. It really warmed my heart to read as I lay in bed, exhausted from the day of ‘moving activities’! I’m honored that you took the time to really look at what I do and what I have done in the past to know me better; as an artist who shares and encourages others, I love when someone takes time to see all I am about. I feel I have so much to offer to those who want to notice or learn and can’t wait to be able to share the parts of me that is not yet known and that’s my poetry and stories.
I find that my curiosity for the natural world has only grown more intense by going out walking and observing by sketching and painting it. It’s really when you try to draw something that you stop and notice little details and the amazing ‘design’ of small things! And speaking of the ‘Devine’ it’s when I’m out there, getting excited over nature that I feel closest to the spiritual world, I feel more connected and at peace, like this is where I’m supposed to be. I’m sure you know just what I mean!
Thank you again and PLEASE don’t hide in the shadows, come leave me comments and ask me questions about painting or tell me similar experiences when you’re out in nature. All the readers here love to see that but me especially, it really keeps me fired up and helps my direction.
I’ll be in Northumberland England and it is GORGEOUS country….just can’t get over how gorgeous….I’ll make everyone jealous! haha…lots to paint. More to come I promise!
Dear Pamela jo, thank you so much for taking the time to write me such a wonderfully encouraging comment! It’s when ‘followers’ like you speak up after seeing what I’ve been doing for years…or even months, that I feel almost sad I don’t get to know people back the same way….like knowing someone in person! So don’t be shy and please comment anytime you see something and you want to share about your experience or ask questions.
I’ve only been to Hollywood Ca. as a brief pit-stop once and never got to explore any of that great and varied state! I hear there are really beautiful parts of California and maybe someday I’ll get to see it with my (future) husband, who also loves nature. I’d love to hear about what kind of creatures you see in your rock pools, are you sketching them? I hope so! 😉 Gary talks about how he never saw me light up like a child when we were at the Northumberland coast and I was exploring the rock pools, I remember it vividly! I have found over the years, especially from being sometimes ‘stuck’ with a plain old back yard full of grass…that if you look closer at anything, you’re going to find something new. I will try to post more in the future about ‘how to’ if it helps anyone…I’ve only been able to post some simple ‘get you started’ kind of things. Yes it’s hard to find the time to post because I like to make each one full of pictures and explanation. But maybe I can do more little ‘cartoon’ sketches and just share them in between. I can’t wait to share my poetry but have to try and get it published first! So many children’s book ideas I have!
Well I hope you keep reading and watching for what I’ll share as I get settled in; I won’t have my scanner for awhile, it’s being shipped with all my stuff! So I’ll make due, ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’ as they say! hahaha….Cheers!! 😉
