“View of Rowan Lee” / Gouache
I really have loved getting used to using gouache paints. I like starting as with watercolor, pretty thinly, then build up where needed. This is a little painting I did of a view I saw almost everyday when living in Edlingham. In the UK houses in the countryside are ‘named’ not numbered. This is hard for someone in the USA to get used to, as it’s so different, but it’s what I love about the UK. It gives history to each house or farm. This house is called ‘Rowan Lee’. You can see old house names on maps that go back to the 1600’s!
