“Gannet” Watercolor, Wax and Ink

I had so much fun painting this expressive bird! I used some bits of a melted wax candle to make marks at the top just to give it some creative life. Then when the colors were painted over it, it made a nice texture. After painting it I went over it with a dip ink pen using Chinese ink and for the folded wing tips I used a brush, I love how that part came out! This was also painted during my University years so I don’t have a large digital file, not yet I should say. I still have this painting and think I’ll be going through any older works to scan them for the first time! Then I can upload a much clearer picture and make prints.
