I almost put this in my Storybook + Illustration section because the mouse has a bit of ‘cute character’. The flower is actually “Chickweed -wintergreen” and I photographed it on a Northumberland moor in late spring. I painted this as soon as we got home from our walk. You can see it’s coming up where the dead dock leaves are and soon those will overshadow it. The young leaves had a lovely color mix of burgundy to green.
