“Snowdrops in the Churchyard” / Watercolor Pencils
I’ll never forget when I painted this en plein air at the Edlingham churchyard. This was when we lived in Northumberland, the church being right in the village with us.
First I drew the scene with a permanent ink pen. Then used my short set of watercolor pencils that I keep in a little pouch. I used a waterbrush to paint with them and did it all while standing under a huge, ancient tree with this view. You can see Edlingham Castle, the viaduct and Corby Crags in the background.
